A very belated blog & hello to you all, we're just settling back down after it all..
We hope you enjoyed #FWMF2016 as much as we did, it was an action-packed few days and the cider-fueled after party nearly finished us off but we made it and live to tell the tale.
Firstly, YOU ARE AWESOME! Without you guys there would be no point having all of our wonderful guests and exhibitors come up to see us. Our audience are the most important part of our wee Highland fling and we love you all very much! Secondly, sponsors are pretty awesome too & we also owe them a big huge THANKS! We hope this year was lots of fun for you.
Over the next few days we'll be getting round to uploading all of our snaps from the festival from our talented photographer Zeemon and getting all misty eyed about what we thought was the best festival yet. Make sure you stop by to take a look!
In the meantime, can you believe it, the team will be meeting up to have a wee review about this year and see how we can make it even bigger and better for you guys and gals next year. It'll be good to get everyone back round a table and have a look back on #FWMF2016!
Whilst we're locked up and getting around to planning next year remember that some parts of our Festival are on the go all year round. We are always looking for Mountain Culture nominations & FWMF Film Competition submissions, make sure you check out both & spread the word far and wide.
For now it's bedtime but tomorrow is another day & another adventure waiting to happen!
A very belated Happy New Year to you all, we've been busy..
First up, we have our Mountain Culture Ambassadors for 2016! A big congratulations to Mick Tighe & Natalie Berry, two outstanding candidates who are wholly worthy of the title. Hello everyone! We hope you have all had a fantastic festive season and are getting yourself ready for some Hogmanany celebrations with your nearest and dearest.
We've been spending the day tinkering with a few bits & pieces before the laptop gets shut down and we begin our own party here in the Highlands to welcome 2016.
Firstly we've added heaps on information about our Arts Festival, take a look! We have joined forces with An Ealdhain Arts Trust to offer artists a chance to show us how the local landscape inspires them and win a generous prize for doing so, take a peek. We have also unveiled our stellar line-up for The Mountain Literature Festival, four awesome presentations for a tenner? What you waiting for! Last but certainly not least, you can now take a peek at the trailer for Dummy Jim & pick up your tickets for a screening of one of the most charming films we've ever come across.
Other new bits for you to explore include Tempting Faith, a workshop that asks big questions that should encourage some healthy debate over a curry. Half of your ticket cost will be donated to the guys and girls at Lochaber Mountain Rescue, a more than worthy cause I'm sure you'll all agree.
We have also added another workshop to our ever-growing Festival Fringe! Sabhal Mor Ostaig's Cailean Maclean invites you to get to grips with Gaelic and understand the landscape and the very literal meanings of those hard to say, jumbled up words that are forever confusing visitors! Focusing on hill, mountain & geographical features this is a must for any activity provider or anyone wanting to improve their Gaelic knowledge. Book your place now!
Our Film Competition has now closed and we have been overwhelmed by the sheer volume and quality of entries this year, judging is going to be really tricky. If you entered your film we will be in touch in the new year with news of our official selections, good luck folks!
It's been another all-star line-up of nominees for both Youth & Adult Mountain Culture Awards. We have our next Adult Mountain Culture Ambassador waiting in the wings however we still need to get the team together to decide on our next Youth Ambassador for Mountain Culture. Take a peek at our Hall of Fame to get inspired and stay tuned for the announcements on who will be awarded with the title early next year.
For the moment, we think that's it but we'll be in full festival mode between now & February and can't wait to see you all up here in the new year. We are delighted to say tickets are selling fast for everything we've got in next year's programme, thank you all for supporting our festival. Get your hands on them quick to avoid disappointment and remember we have official #FWMF2016 on sale too!
