The Wild Places, Wild Journeys Writing Competition 2009

If you’ve been inspired by a river, loch, mountain or coast tell us about it!

Following on from the success of the last two writing competitions at the Fort William Mountain Festival, the John Muir Trust is again running a writing competition for aspiring writers.

With the broad theme of 'experiences in wild places', your entry could incorporate a journey, a place, an expedition, a mountain or river, a walk, climb, sail or kayak...or whatever wild experience has inspired you!

Our aim is to celebrate our landscape and wild places by encouraging new and upcoming writers to write about their experiences and share their stories.

Entries selected for final consideration will be exhibited at the 2009 Fort William Mountain Festival.

Entries in English or Gaelic.

Deadline: Entries must be submitted by 26th of January 2009.

Word limit: Your piece of writing should not exceed 1200 words.

One of our judges this year is Linda Cracknell.

First prize is a place on a Writing and Place course, tutored by Linda Cracknell, Valerie Gillies & Andrew Greig, July 20th - 25th 2009 at Moniack Mhor, Scotland's creative writing centre.

First prize for the Gaelic category is to be announced.

Other prizes and judges to be announced.

For more details about the competition, download the entry form and terms and conditions now, or contact Alison Austin at John Muir Trust on 01397 705049 or email nevis@jmt.org
