Have you ever looked up at the night sky in awe and wondered what’s out there? This 1 day workshop delivered in conjunction with The Institute for Outdoor Learning Scotland aims to explore the basics of astronomy in an accessible and inspiring way. Through a combination of indoor based theory and outdoor experiential activities, we will explore the origins of the universe, the solar system, the roles of the sun, moon and seasons, the main northern hemisphere constellations, observational tools suitable for use ‘on the hill’ and ways in which the wonders of the night sky can be introduced to groups of young people and adults outdoors.
The workshop is suitable for all outdoor enthusiasts and professionals. No previous knowledge of astronomy required!
This workshop is presented by Rupert Hutchinson; an International Mountain Leader (IML) and outdoor educator based in Germany who has a love of wild places and starry nights.
