TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

Please read if you are intending to enter

Fort William Mountain Festival 2012 Film Competition. Please read the terms and conditions carefully as receipt of any film by the festival implies acceptance of these terms and conditions by the entrant.

The promoter of the festival and the competition is The Highland Mountain Culture Association Limited (“the Promoter”).

The theme of film must be broadly about mountain or outdoor: sports, life, or environment, but this can be interpreted as widely as the filmmaker wishes. All material must be suitable for general screening and the Promoter’s decision as to such suitability shall be final.

Films must be submitted online via Youtube or Vimeo and will be made available for online viewing. Submissions by both professional and amateur filmmakers are accepted.

A prize will be awarded for the best film: Details to be confirmed.

A winning film will be selected by the public using an online judging system by ‘liking’ films on Facebook which will close on 3rd February 2012. Entry dates and judging dates and format may be subject to change at the promoter’s discretion. Click here to view and ‘like’ the films now! 

Rules

  1. Entry deadline is 16th January 2012.
  2. There is no entry fee.
  3. Subject to the following terms and conditions, all copyright in all material submitted is reserved to the filmmaker/creator of such material.
  4. The Filmmaker/submitter MUST have permission for use of all content within the film and its soundtrack.
  5. A short summary of the film must be included within the submission email.
  6. The Mountain Culture Association Ltd may choose to show the best film or films at the Mountain Festival event. In this case, the submitter must be able to provide a DVD copy of the film. The promoter accepts no liability for loss or damage of this DVD copy. Queries regarding provision of DVD can be sent to mountainfestivalfilmcomp@gmail.com
  7. The Promoter retains the right to archive all entries and to use whenever the promoter wishes, free of royalty or other charge, up to 3 minutes of footage (the selection of such footage and any editing of it to be at the Promoter’s sole discretion) for promotional material connected with the festival.
  8. Any film in a language other than English must be subtitled in English.
  9. All entries give the right to the Promoter to show the film at the festival on such number of occasions as the Promoter deems appropriate. The timing and running order of the screening of films is entirely at the discretion of the Promoter.
  10. Submission of a film does not guarantee its showing at the festival.
  11. All films will be viewed by a pre-screening committee. If a submission is deemed to be inappropriate, the promoter may refuse to accept it. The promoter’s decision in this matter is final.
  12. Entrants will be notified by the Promoter if their film is selected for showing at the Mountain Festival event.
