Fatima's Hand
Directed by Jens Hoffmann Germany 38mins 20sec Karina Hollekim, a Norwegian base jumper, embarks on what promises to be a journey of adventure. Her aim – to base jump off Fatima’s Hand, a mountain shrouded in myth and legend, situated in a remote area of Mali, West Africa. The project does not work out as planned and it turns into a risky adventure, facing poverty, fetish myths and fatal danger. This 40 minute documentary describes Karina’s adventure from her own perspective, a journey that will change her life.
Pinturas Buldestres Produced and directed by Luc Percival France 21mins High energy bouldering movie centred entirely around the sandstone bouldering in Albarracin, Spain. “Why do you like Albarracin?” is the one question that interrupts the climbing. This main feature has been edited very tightly with the music to provide a head spinning high energy tour of choice boulder problems in the forest.
By a Thread Best Short Film Prize Winner Produced and directed by Juan Carlos Romera Spain 9mins “The only way to feel your life is by risking it!” 'By a Thread' is an adaptation of a very old Sufi’s tale. It was shot in Sierra Nevada, Granada.
Heaven Produced and directed by Simon Christy UK 13mins This short skiing film follows a group of friends skiing powder and steeps in the French Alps.
Featuring guest appearances by Fort William's own Kenny Biggin and John Sutherland. 'Heaven' is the 3rd film from Simon Cristy – Ridestyle Productions, following hot on the heels of the acclaimed “Stick It” and “Just Another Day.”
Asiemut - Grand Prize Winner
Produced and directed by Olivier Higgins and Melanie Carrier Canada 56mins There are so many choices in everyday life! Everyone has their own journey, but mostwould call it a long adventure, approximately 8,000 km long. Riding their bicycles and pedalling through Asia, Olivier and Melanie travelled from Mongolia to Kolkata, at the mouth of the Ganges in India, passing through Xinjiang, the Taklamakan Desert, Tibet and Nepal. Along the way, they discover the world, but all over, they discover themselves. Who are they? What do they want? What is their place in this world? Maybe, between the encounters, obstacles and the discovery, this daring journey made them reflect….do we not all have a common “Asiemut”?

Cayesh — The Calling USA, 2006, 17 minutes Focus: Climbing / Mountaineering A one-day ascent of a new route on the west face of Cayesh, in Peru, filmed entirely by the two climbers. “They wish to present a real taste of modern lightweight alpinism as practised by two of today’s best alpinists.”
Exploring the Mother of Waters Australia, 2006, 45 minutes The first-ever complete navigation of the Mekong River from its source in Tibet to the South China Sea was completed by Australian filmmaker and extreme kayaker Mick O’Shea in 2004. Via this cutting-edge expedition, the film explores and celebrates the diverse cultures and environments of the Mekong valley while exposing some of the most pressing human rights and resource rights issues facing the region’s subsistence cultures.

Mountains without Barriers USA, 2006, 24 minutes Two blind men and a man with no legs tackle a 1000-foot rock tower in Italy. They are here as part of a festival called No Barriers, whose principal aim is to facilitate knowledge exchange among people with disabilities and those who create assistive technologies. The Best of Jo Canada, 2006, 3 minutes The Best of Jo is a stop-action Lego film about a coffee-addicted guy named Jo. He is eager to try all the mountain sports available to him, such as climbing, skiing, and fishing.
