The sport of snowboarding was essentially started by skate-boarders and surfers looking for a winter alternative to the two summer sports. Now that snowboarding has reached its peak, there is only one way to change the way snowboarding is done, and that is to take the bindings off the board and really surf the mountain.

Timmy O'Neill - climber, entertainer, film-maker

How Timmy O'Neill to describe Timmy O'Neill? Hyperkinetic...maverick...quick-witted? It's impossible to pin this man down, and that's just how he likes it. A world-renowned speed-climber, film-maker and entertainer, Timmy lives life at full speed, whatever he's doing. His favourite quote, from Helen Keller, sums up his attitude to life and climbing: 'Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.'

 

Brought to us by the Banff Mountain Film Festival, Timmy is the special guest speaker on our Mountaineering Evening and launches our first-ever Theatre Evening with his unique play giving a new perspective on the Mallory mystery, written and performed with his 'partner-in-crime' Jeb Berrier.
