The Wild Places, Wild Journeys Writing Competition 2008
If you’ve been inspired by a river, loch, mountain or coast tell us about it!
Following on from the success of last year's writing competition at the Fort William Mountain Festival, the John Muir Trust is again running a writing competition for aspiring writers.
With the broad theme of 'experiences in wild places', your entry could incorporate a journey, a place, an expedition, a mountain or river, a walk, climb, sail or kayak...or whatever wild experience has inspired you!
Our aim is to celebrate our landscape and wild places by encouraging new and upcoming writers to write about their experiences and share their stories.
Entries selected for final consideration will be exhibited at the 2008 Fort William Mountain Festival.
Entries in English or Gaelic.
Deadline: Entries must be submitted by 11th of January 2008. Word limit: Your piece of writing should not exceed 1200 words.
Prizes include a place on a week-long writing course at the Arvon Foundation's Scottish centre, Moniack Mhor, near Inverness, and a week's self-catering accommodation at The Orkney Croft on Hoy - certain to inspire landscape writers.
First prize for the Gaelic category is a place on a writing course (or alternatively in music or Gaelic language) at Sabhal Mór Ostaig College on Skye. Accommodation during this course will be donated by Lochaber Gaelic Development Group.
